Celebrating the tenth anniversary of Chad McCail groundbreaking Liars of Earth, the turntable gallery, is delighted to bring this incredible work to Seaview Colonnade at Sutton on Sea.
Finding its foundations on the Beacontree estate, Dagenham, the piece draws on the experiences of everyday people, and their desire to overcome everyday struggles. This graphic depiction of that was created for Platform; Glasgow and speaks of that communities desire to come together and uplift their own lives. Having been arranged especially for the Seaview Colonnade, this newest iteration seeks to tell the story of its newest audience, and hopes to give voice to their adversities.
The show runs from 21/8 - 12/10 2025 and provides a unique opportunity to view this incredible installation. Throughout the exhibition we will be running workshops, giving participants an opportunity to expand this monumental work to include your own stories from the places you live!
‘A community menaced by monsters that appear to be stealing their hospitals... those monsters being reduced to size by great figures made up of hundreds of people…a housing estate surrounded by fruit and vegetable gardens…Jesus reconciling prisoners with their victims while a root from the tree of knowledge bursts through the church. In Liars of Earth artist Chad McCail presents a panoramic view of a rebellion animated by characters from folklore and myth but rooted in the inequality and injustice of our times’.
